Tim O'Leary and I entered the McLaren Wall-to-Wall competition, for National Film Board of Canada, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Norman McLaren's birth.
"Facsimile" meaning "to make a copy of" was inspired by the Canadian animator's short film 'Begone Dull Care'.
Music was selected to be in keeping with the narrative; growing from raw dark tones of jazz to atmospheric horns. The piece is bookended with the affirming sounds of a marching band’s drum.
